The Manufacture: A Brilliant Integration

The heart and strength of Roger Dubuis lies in its vertically integrated facility—a place where art and innovation pulse together. All workshops, parts manufacturing, and offices reside in the same high-tech building in Geneva. This spectacular building’s glass walls reflect the watches made within: its bold, confident exterior houses complex and sophisticated mechanisms. Within this manufacture, extraordinary craftsmen, creative visionaries, and state-of-the-art machinery come together. Individual movements are developed in tandem with each timepiece’s exterior and can be designed to integrate with any casing. Beauty and functionality evolve together, with truly extraordinary results.

And while other luxury watchmakers submit completed pieces to be considered for the Hallmark of Geneva, Roger Dubuis incorporates the Seal’s exacting requirements into every watch’s early design and production. This makes Dubuis the only watchmaker to bear the revered Hallmark on every watch it has ever made.

The Process: An In-Depth Look

Initial Concepting and design

Watches are conceived from the idea that there is no form without function and no function without form. This demanding concept can be fully enforced because of Dubuis’ uniquely integrated production process and holistic perspective. And every Roger Dubuis piece is conceived with the Hallmark of Geneva in mind—each watch is built to comply with its every requirement every step of the way, which ensures an attestation of premium craftsmanship stamped on every piece.

With a foundation in beauty and craftsmanship, each design sets its sights on the extraordinary. Each piece takes on a life and personality of its own, its designers imbuing drama, romance, mystery, and adventure into every part, material, and every mechanism. Even parts hidden within the watch will be elaborately embellished and perfectly finished.

Manufacture of Components

Every component of a Roger Dubuis watch (and some have hundreds of components) is manufactured within the facility, including the exquisite spirals and balance wheels at the heart of the watch. The entire range of complications is mastered internally, including house specialties such as double flying tourbillons and skeleton movements. This astounding caliber of in-house manufacturing capability garners the Roger Dubuis brand a high level of prestige, quality, and exclusivity in its designs.

Assembly and quality assurance

Each caliber is assembled and meticulously hand-adjusted by over a hundred expert watchmakers employed in the manufacture’s workshops. Each of these extremely complex movements requires weeks of delicate work. This ultra-fine process is fully in the spirit of Geneva’s great watchmaking tradition, and one should expect nothing less from haute horlogerie.
